Build Quality:
At 56 grams, the Zaopin Z2 Mini is not the lightest option out there - though its impressive build quality makes up for it. Considering its compact form factor, Zaopin could have trimmed the weight down to around 52g, but the structural integrity remains impeccable. Measuring 116.5x62x37.8mm, the Z2 Mini feels rock solid—no creaks, no flex, just a well-crafted design. Built for small to medium hands, its ergonomic shape provides a secure and comfortable grip, making it a dependable choice for long gaming sessions. There's a Bluetooth/2.4GHz mode switch on the bottom, along with a small compartment to store the dongle.
Scroll Wheel - The scroll wheel on the Zaopin Z2 Mini uses an F-Switch encoder, giving it a smooth yet tactile feel. Scrolling up and down feels natural and effortless while still providing good feedback. The middle click is also lighter than on most mice, making it easier to press with little force.
Coating - The Zaopin Z2 Mini has a “BZ Protein Membrane” coating that feels smooth to the touch while offering a solid grip once your hand warms up. It doesn’t do much to keep fingerprints (white unit doesnt really show fingerprints) or dirt away, and at first, it can feel a bit slick—but after a few minutes, it really settles in and grips well.

Clicks - The Huano Green White Dot switches on the Z2 Mini feel great—both M1 and M2 are crisp and consistent. They’re super responsive and easy to spam, with no noticeable pre- or post-travel. One of the best features of this mouse is the ability to hot swap switches, so if you’re not a fan of the stock clicks, swapping them out is easy.

Software - The Zaopin Z2 Mini’s software packs a solid range of customization options, giving you control over features like Motion Sync, Ripple Effect, and Angle Snapping. You can fine-tune click debounce time to improve responsiveness and prevent accidental double-clicks, adjust lift-off distance, tweak DPI lighting effects, and manage sleep mode settings. Overall, the software is lightweight, user-friendly, and offers plenty of flexibility.
Battery Life - Zaopin packed a 500 mAh battery into the Z2 Mini, which is quite a powerhouse for such a compact mouse. They could have gone with a smaller battery to cut a few grams, but it’s clear they prioritized longevity, and it delivers. Running at a 1K polling rate, the battery lasts a long time. Can’t speak on the 4K or higher polling rates but I imagine the battery life would drain much faster.
Shape - I haven’t personally used a shape quite like the Z2 Mini, but according to Eloshape, it’s very similar to the Rakk Kaptan Trimode. For small hands (18x9) and claw grip user, this mouse feels absolutely fantastic.

Skates - The stock skates on the Z2 are a bit slower than ideal but still get the job done. They compare well to Corepads, offering solid performance with only minor drawbacks for speed and feel. The extra set of feet in the package performs similarly.
